Taylor Neck Bolt Holes

I'm confused by the photos. I thought Taylor was virtually start to finish CNC controlled. Wouldn't that eliminate those type of gouged out holes?

Is there some other reason for the holes in those photos? They look like something I would do with a hand drill--and I'm no craftsman.
