I got that one, too, RP. Don't worry. I gave them all your pertinent information. They'll have your account cleaned right out, I mean, up in no time!

A new one to be aware of is unauthorized porting of mobile phone numbers. That's really dangerous considering it's the second form of authentication so many use. More and more the only phone number many have.

I get a few of those a week, usually on my legacy aol email. Besides the bad English, clicking on the sender's address usually shows some random email that is clearly fraudulent. I wonder how many people are fooled, and don't know how to spot phishing attempts.

I am often amazed and amused by those sorts of emails/notifications... I suppose they only need ONE idiot to answer to make it worth their while, but I won't volunteer to be the one!
Reminds me of walking down Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley, back in the 80's... the stretch of Shattuck just outside the campus of Cal was notorious for being the most heavily pan-handled in the area. A three block walk would have one being assaulted by everything from crazed loonies to crack whores to mothers with babies... all pleading, shouting, begging, exhorting, extorting you for money. One day, after making it through all the "heavy" areas, I passed a storefront insert and saw a youngish fellow sitting there; he looked pretty clean, decently dressed and recently bathed/shaved (well, within the last day or so!)... he looked up at me and said, "$1,000 for a Ferrari?"!!! I looked at him incredulously and he remarked, "Well, it won't take many to say 'yes'..."
