Continental Resonators
These were once made by Amistar

Did you like them? I once had a Continental single cone, from the late 90s, which I hated, but the person who bought it from me loved it, and said it was the best resonator he'd had! I've had an urge for the tricone for around 15 years, when I saw one in the window of Guitar Village in Hamburg. Oh the gas is biting hard ..... http://www.guitar-village.de/shop.html Last edited by toom; 09-05-2015 at 02:03 AM. |

National, then Republic (ugh), now Continental.
I'm waiting for Monarchy, and Island brands.

Well, you've got your Recording King & ( early ) NRP Islander, so I'd say you're pretty much there..

There is also a highly thought of German made brand but I can't bring their name to mind.
I recently traded my 2005 Style "O" deluxe, for a used 2011 Estralita. I'm not sure that the Estralita is as well made as was my Style "O" but it has less volume - which is what I wanted.

Hi SillyMoustache. Your reply was a bit too cryptic for me, though there's a really cheesy looking Dobro for sale locally -
http://www.gamlinsmusic.co.uk/musica...la-blues-1700/ I may play it, though the model's had bad write ups. The Levin on your YT page looks good. There's an old one for sale in Crane's (Cardiff). The Continentals had an excellent reputation in the 90s, before they were made in China. I haven't heard much about them recently, hence my post. |

Are you thinking of the Czech-made Amistar?

No, although I've hear good things about Amistar.
I remembered - it is these guys and they are in France : http://www.fineresophonic.com/contact.htm I thought it was Germany because I know a guy who bought one in Germany.

These are excellent guitars and quite hard to obtain. I've heard there's a 2 year waiting list. Eric Clapton has at least 2 of them. They cost rather more than the Continental resonators I was referring to.
