Default New Fylde Goodfellow (with video)

I took delivery of a hand built Fylde Goodfellow a couple of months ago; cedar top, sapele back and sides, Honduras mahogany neck and rosewood board.

Only just got around to making a video to show it off! It's a Headway FEQ pick-up with a little bit of mic in the mix (busy road – you can hear a motorbike go past near the end).

It's a lovely instrument and I'm really pleased with it!

Sounds really lovely David, wonderful playing. Great sounding, very articulate guitar.

When I was considering a Fylde guitar, as a Canadian travelling in Ireland on holiday, I hatched a plan to take a quick flight to an airport near Roger Bucknall's,shop, and he offered to pick me up at the airport and drive me to his shop to play a Fylde guitar or two (as I would have no car upon arrival and was trying not to push on expenses as I diverted from my Ireland holiday). It was a very thoughtful gesture on his part.

In the end, my wife thought me mad, and the journey was not made, but I almost made it, with Roger's help.

Great purchase. Congrats.

Stuart

Excellent all around!

Wish I could get my Martin to sound like a motorbike!

Very nice playing David. I once owned a Fylde mandolin, they're a great company. Do you play any gigs in Bath? I will be there on 27th for a couple of days.
Best regards,
Malcolm

My next local gig is March 13th where I'm playing with Ben Powell and Canadian acoustic player Bryan Rason. I'm looking forward to that one!

Default Wow.....

Wow, that should be quite a gig on the 13th March in Bath, wonder if passport control will allow me past the Yorkshire boundary for a brief sojourn in the beautiful West Country. Lovely sound & beautifully played....makes me realise how mediocre my playing is....thanks PS. Your clip also reminds me how fortunate we are in the UK.....so many top luthiers are based here.

Agreed. This is the second Fylde I've bought from Roger Bucknall and the quality is consistently excellent. The Goodfellow sounded great straight out of the case and I can't wait to hear how the sound develops after I've been playing it for a while!

Beautifully played David and what a wonderful sound you get from that guitar. I have just finished reading the book Guitar An American Life by Tim Brookes. It is an excellent story and starts out with his Fylde Guitar being damaged by baggage handlers. I had never heard of Fylde Guitars before reading the book. What a coincidence that I came upon your Fylde thread. Well anyway keep making beautiful music and take good care of your guitar .

Great playing on a wonderfully balanced guitar. If that's what it sounds and plays like out of the box, well that says a lot for Fylde guitars. I've never played one but I shall have to rectify that. The Headway sounds great too! I will also have to check out more of your music, David, many thanks for sharing this. I expect you'll be playing this guitar quite a lot!
