New Toy
I'd like to get my hands on one of those originals, congrats on the buy. I've got a tube screamer and it's great for that little push into the front if the amp.

What the TS9 won't do is clean up with your guitar's volume control - it's a stomp it "on"/stomp it "off" again pedal. Cool pedal though. A classic. All depends on what kind of overdrive tone you have in your head. Me? I have fun sometimes playing with a super overdriven saturated lead tone - who doesn't? But being a blues player, and someone who likes to jazz it up with chords other than majors and sevenths, I prefer a more transparent, more open, less compressed and less distorted lead tone most of the time.

Gypsy - I don't find your statement about the TS "NOT cleaning up with the volume control on the guitar" to be totally false, in my experience... I don't know what sort of amp your driving it with, but through either my old Yamaha solid-state or my '73 Deluxe Reverb, the Tube Screamer cleans up very nicely with the volume pot on either my Gibson ES-345 or my Taylor T-5...
That was one of the aspects of the TS that I thought was actually BETTER than that KLON pedal I auditioned... certainly, if the pedal is engaged, the tone does not clean up entirely, but the effect of the pedal is dialed WAY back with the volume pot... I've always felt more "at home" with an acoustic guitar, and have attempted to "suss out" exactly way that is, for decades now... when I play with the TS "on" but the volume dialed down, it gives a nice fatness and a "wider" feel to the notes played that "feels" more lke an acoustic guitar for me...
