The problem in my world is that my cars age out before the engines wear out. (body parts etc) I had a Ford Festiva from 1988 I bought new (the cheapest car on the market at the time, I think). Drove it until about 2012 or 2013. Being an in town car it only had around 125 K on it but the body was shot as well as most of the under carriage items. The engine ran great, no oil usage or anything.
I bought a used Toyota Avalon in 2001, that had 50K on it. Drove it until 2018. It had 225 K on it. Again, engine fine, body had issues, (seats etc). But sold it through my mechanic to a kid who needed a cheap car, and it's still running last I heard. |
