Hey I was the first to put Lace Sensors on a Emerald Doubleneck! Somebody was looking? Hard to patent an idea when its not your guitar or your pickup. Lol. But I have a dated UTube if there is a challenge from anyone. Steve

Yo, Steve;

I've followed your double-neck experiences and would not challenge you on this item. But I would like a review; can you post the Utube address here?

Not that it matters, glad to have even a small effect on the Emerald City!

Thank you Steve. Beautiful sound and really clean transition between the 6 and the 12. You were one of the first to have an Emerald doubleneck and quite a hit at the Park City Carbon Fest; every player there had to have a run with the guitar. Nice memories.

Same here, I now wear a hat, seriously

I own an Emerald X7 Synergy, have also played an Emerald Chimaera, and have also played a variety of RainSongs over the years. Emerald instruments require a huge leap of faith in every regard unless you know someone that has one that will let you try it out, simply because they are comparatively expensive and only sell direct. That said, I just ordered my second one, an X20-7 seven string fanned fret (both are base, or "Opus" grade models; see my earlier NGD post), feel entirely confident that if not satisfied they will honor their no questions asked return policy, and mostly, above all, what they offer is unlike anything anyone anywhere else offers and sound and play splendidly. I won't discount anyone else's Cf instruments; all I have played are stellar. I don't want to come across as sounding like an Emerald add, so I'll close by hoping you find what you're in quest of, regardless of where you find it! Cheers!

In that case, you might want to talk about something else for a few weeks while we get to know you.

Again, welcome to the forum, Big Dawg.

Dawg;

I wouldn't worry about sounding like an Ad, a lot of people on this forum sound like ads, and with good reason. Blackbird makes a stunning array of instruments and has a number of hard core enthusiasts. A lot of people on the forum (me included) have high praise for Emerald. And there are a number of people on this forum with nice collections of and comments on Rainsong guitars. A more recent entry, Journey, has also been receiving a nice collection of forum compliments. There are a lot of neat CF options allowing a lot of bragging rights.

I admit it.....in the composite guitar world, I'm an Emerald fanboy (I own a Chimaera). I'm also a CA fanboy (longtime Cargo and former GXi owner). This is based on my personal exposure to these two brands whose offerings enticed me enough to take the leaps of faith, which paid-off with all three guitars. So it doesn't concern me if I may sometimes come across like an ad, but I always hope that in extolling the virtues of the guitars I'm familiar with, there is some value for others.

There are other brands I'm intrigued by (perhaps a Rainsong or Blackbird model), but not (yet) to the extent to actually pursue. Even if able to try them out, it would be hard for any to find their way into my home because my needs are pretty-much met, and I'm good at controlling my wants.

I like guitars. All kinds of guitars. Over 50 years of playing, and most of my acoustics have had a similar look and feel. My first carbon fiber, a RainSong Shorty, has a somewhat different look thanks to the carbon fiber, but still a traditional guitar shape and feel. That was my "gateway" draw to the carbon fiber offerings.

This may sound like another ad for Emerald - the X7 changed my mind about a lot of things (size, sound, shape); but the thing that hits me most when I pick it up each day is the feel. All those curves and rounded edges make this the most comfortable guitar of any I've owned. It makes me want to pick it up... and I do. Yeah, it sounds great and looks cool. The workmanship on it is impeccable. But, the feel... that would be tough to convey in an ad.

Even if carbon fiber didn't have all the "no hassle" advantages over wood, I can't imagine a wood guitar with this feel.

Sound like an ad? But wait - there's more...
