From a rock&roll standing, not a modern, new age etc.. ibanez, prs, ehh..
Straight up Rock & Roll.....we're talking about Chuck Berry's guitar. Red ES-335.

For sheer beauty in the world of electrics.....Probably a figured wood natural soft cutaway L-5 or an ES-5 Switchmaster.

For killer sound - I'll take a Tele any day.

I'm a fan of the PRS single cuts... Not all of them, because some are way to flashy with the bright colors, but when they are in some of the more subdued colors I think they look nice.

When I seen the PRS SE Fredrick Akesson on the wall.. I thought to myself what a sharp looking guitar. Then I made the mistake of picking it up.... didn't put it down again until I was putting it my car when I left the shop

Dark brown that looks black in low light, but in brighter light the brown pops out at you. Here are some really bad pictures of mine.

For county, blues, and rock I'd use my strats:

For classic jazz or Progressive Jazz, I use one of my ES's:

I think the guitar that looks best on stage depend on the setting and style of music being played.

I am late here. Sorry.

I used to like the les paul std or trad tops until I met Heritage tops. I think their tops and stains are much better than Gibson

For a completely random one- the cherry burst bound Teles have always appealed to me.

For me there is really only one quintessential ultra-cool, rock and roll, love machine. It is the Gibson Les Paul. Make mine honeyburst please. Blue, Bullion Gold, Pearl White, Black, etc... they are all pretty darned cool.

Is there even a second place? Not here! LOL
