Default Where to purchase Taylors?

I'm not normally a Taylor person, but I've played 3 different 714ce sunburst guitars and have been blown away by all of them. I'd like to purchase one by the end of the year, but now that Jon Garon is no longer a Taylor dealer, I'm unsure of who to turn to. Also, are there some dealers that take off 40% of list like Martins, or is everyone pretty much the same. I'd really like to avoid Guitar Center and Sam Ash if possible.

Among the big 3 Taylor are well known for consistency. I purchased a first edition Grand Orchestra online & could not be happier with the guitar.

In an ideal world you should play before you buy as there is always a risk you might get a real dog. With Taylor that risk is far less than Martin or Gibson. (Martin & Gibson are both amazing when you find a good one)

Jim's a stand-up dealer and long time AGF member whom many here can vouch for. Just run a search for Jim Tordoff or Guitarrodeo and you'll find pages of testimonies.

Jim Holler at Trinity Guitars is also worth mentioning. I've done some business with him over a couple years and he's definitely a stand up guy with a good feel for things like our subjective descriptions of what sound we like and interpreting that into intelligent suggestions. I'm happy with everything I've gotten from him and the prices were always very good.

I also would like to recommend Jim from Guitar Rodeo. Great guy with deals hard to beat.

My local guitar store is:
http://www.elderly.com/

They are known internationally. I've been going there for nearly 40 years. They "set up" all their instruments, stand behind their sales, are extremely helpful, and have great prices. This is where I've bought 5 Taylors.

I recommend www.tejonstreetmusic.com/ they are a AGF sponsor and had a nice 714 last time I was in there. Oops...it was a 716ce Sunburst.

Whenever possible, my first thoughts are to look again at the dealers who help provide this forum as Sponsors. Each has a stellar reputation, and I always let them know how much I appreciate their support. As a former moderator, I probably shouldn't try to pick one over another, but rather recommend checking with each one. So that's what I'm doing!

Ted @ LA Guitar Sales. He is a pleasure to deal with and a great supporter of the AGF. You cannot go wrong in dealing with him.

I know that for Martin, one can get down to 60% of list for a discount. Is there a similar discount for Taylors? ....Mike

As mentioned, Jim (Guitar Rodeo) and Ted (LA Guitar Sales) each have a great reputation and they are Forum Sponsors - just click on their link on the right side nav bar.

I've also read great things about Wildwood Music (Ohio). They're also a Forum Sponsor and they sold more custom Taylor Build To Orders (BTO) than anyone else either last year or the year before.
