Default *SOLD!* Martin OMCPA1 Rare All-Ebony, Teardrop, Exc Cond $X,XXX

*SOLD. Thanks, AGF! Enjoy, Max!*

(SCROLL DOWN FOR PHOTOS)
This Martin OMCPA1 was built in early 2010 (the first year that Martin made this model), with the headplate, fretboard, bridge and heelcap all solid ebony (not Richlite) and the factory-installed pickguard is the traditional Martin teardrop OM shape instead of the Taylor-esque type on the newer models.
The condition: excellent-- no major dings, dents, scratches anywhere, and virtually no fretwear (see fifth photo, below). The neck is straight and there is no bellying. Apart from the lightest signs of play, it's basically like a new guitar. The case is brand new, literally fresh out of the box for this sale-- it's an original Martin/TKL 330 plush hardshell exactly like the one that came with the guitar (except it's black instead of brown). I had to replace the original case because I left it (but NOT the guitar!) out on my deck one night before a late summer rainstorm... (Argh. Your gain.)
The action: extraordinary-- it truly "plays like an electric": 5/64" on the low E at the 12th fret, and 3/64" on the high E at the 12th fret with D'Addario lights (0.053"-0.012") in standard tuning. And there's no buzz and no dead notes anywhere up the neck. Action that low sounds almost impossible for an acoustic but it's true. It's THE best action on an acoustic I've ever played. (I do play with a pick but I don't strum hard-- if you strum hard, you might need to raise the action.)
The electronics: built-in Fishman F1 Aura with 9 tone "images", manual mode, and chromatic tuner-- just a fantastic system. Does not have the "easy" mode of the new F1 Aura Plus (but once you learn the system, it's arguable whether the "easy" mode is really an improvement). The Fishman user's manual and instructional DVD will be included in the case pocket.
Some specs:
  • Standard OM dimensions: 15" lower bout, 4-1/8" depth, 25.4" scale
  • Solid Sitka spruce top, solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, one-piece mahogany neck
  • Solid ebony fretboard, headplate, and bridge (with bone pins)
  • Ovangkol binding
  • 1-3/4" nutwidth, 2-3/16" string spacing at saddle
  • Low oval neck profile with "performing artist" taper (*really* comfortable)
Video/sound clip: I don't have the equipment to do a video/audio recording myself, but here's a YouTube video from MaurysMusic.com that happens to be of the exact same OMCPA1 2010 model (thank you, Maury!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODadcHF21jc
Price: The list price for this model is $3,999 and they retail new for $2,999. My price is $X,XXX shipped (in the CONUS), insured, and PayPal'ed (no trades, thanks). And you probably won't find another one with the solid ebony fretboard, bridge, headplate and heelcap anywhere. (p.s. this is a very good price and as low as I can go-- below this price I'd rather keep her)

This is a beautiful-sounding, and beautiful looking guitar unlike anything you can buy from Martin today. I truly hate giving it up. You won't be disappointed. Please contact me directly for any questions. Peter- 541-344-5569; or [email protected]

Interesting. I did not realize that the early models came with regular Martin-style pickguards--though I thought all of the brochures and photos I saw had the Taylor guards? This isn't a replacement guard?

Default Yep, that's the original pickguard

Hi Richard, that's the original factory-installed pickguard. Judging from the serial number, this particular guitar was built early in 2010, the first year that this model was made. At that time the pickguard that Martin used was the traditional OM style, and everything on the guitar was real wood (no Richlite). Honestly, I've also played some of the later OMCPA's, and the build quality on this one feels better as well. It's like Martin first decided to make a few really cool prototype guitars; and later they decided to make them make money. I think this is one of the early prototypes. Peter

Dang! Sure like that neck & fingerboard binding! Wood bindings are usually only found on the custom Martins.

Default Celebrate National Mule Day!

According to the HorseChannel.com, October 26 is National Mule Day. I kid not:http://www.horsechannel.com/horse-ne.../mule-day.aspx
I'll bump (and kick) to that!

Default Thanks, Steve...

...admittedly, my bump in tribute to National Mule Day was pretty half-a**ed.

These are great guitars and this is a very good price. I've owned two of these; sold the first one, had seller's remorse and bought another. Ended up selling it as well but am now gassing for another. If I acquired one it would definitely be the earlier version, like this one.

Good luck with the sale!!!

What a beautiful instrument. Worthy of President Bumgarner himself!

Didn't realize Bumgarner & Rick Barnes (UT men's BB coach) were from the same small town.

Default Omcpa1

Very nice instrument.

I'm selling a guitar of mine. If things work out I get in touch with you. I'm very interested.

How is the intonation?
