Read good things about John Pearse strings in this post. Gave 'em a shot. Put 12s, then 11s on my dread. Didn't think much about 'em. Then I broke a B string. Switched to set of Elixer Nanos which I'd been using pretty regularly.

NOW I have an opinion about the Pearse. And I miss 'em.

Just don't know if what I missed about them was the brand or the gauge.

Further investigation is required.

Other:

Martin Bluegrass 80/20 Bronze 0.12 - 0.56

Love them, once I tried them I haven't switched to anything else.

If you could peek into the drawer where I keep my guitar supplies, you'd find a few sets of D'Addario phosphor bronze and a few sets of Nanowebs. It looks like I fit the forum profile pretty well.

I checked Martin SP Phosphor Bronze but I also like Adamas Phosphor Bronze, GHS Laurence Juber Signature, John Pearse, and Gibson Masterbuilt Phosphor Bronze.

Hello folks, this is my first post here.

For my Martin, I have grown fond of Ernie Ball PB Slinky acoustic strings. (12-54) For non-coated strings, they last a long time, and the tone is amazing. Lots of low end punch but also very balanced through the rest of the spectrum.

I voted for the D'Addario Phosphor Bronze, but on 12 string I prefer D'Angelico PB, mostly for the wound octave A.

I just yanked off a set of D'Addario coated strings off my Martin OM-28 after two days. I replaced them with John Pearce PB lights and already, I am much happier with them. The coated strings were way too bright and the wound strings overpowered the plain strings. That said, I have had the same D'Addario coated strings on my Larrivee L-03R for a while and I'm happy with them on that guitar.
