Default Closeness to wood

Day after Christmas good day to just mess around on my guitars. I got my old high school 1967 Gibson J45 and was playing it. It really is a great acoustic guitar, last year before they beefed up the bracing. Playing my Rainsongs and Emerald and it became very apparent that, the Emerald is the closest to that wood sound, scary close. The Gibson has a deeper bass, the Emerald is a much thinner body but the character of the sound is about the same.

I will be curious to see what you think, I tried a X10 several years ago and didn't really like the tone. I wonder if they have altered their top "formula". Could be the model, could be my ears at the time, only just played it a day. These makers are always experimenting I am sure. Blackbird totally chanced the voicing on their Lucky 13 just with bracing, it was very nice.

Had a great time visiting with Kramster and playing his X10 and Shorty. I liked the sound of both and absolutely loved the look of the woody X10 (which you see in the picture above).

Decision on which to order to be made shortly, and of course update to be posted here.

Nice looking guitar, Kramster.

new2guitar_eh... what brings you to our neck of the woods? Snowbird from Canada here for the winter?

Part time snowbird...only here for a week this time, but will be back end of Feb for 3 weeks. Glad to be away from winter, and very glad to have met Kramster (and played a couple of his guitars, and listened to him play guitar and listened to him play piano...very cool)

I was a snowbird here last winter and for a short time while traveling the winter before last... now here full time and loving it.

Kramster is generous to offer the opportunity to sample the instruments!
