Default Lightnin Wells Piedmont Blues Guitar Workshop and Concert, Galax, Virginia

Chestnut Creek School of the Arts in Galax, Virginia will be hosting a Piedmont Blues Guitar workshop and concert with Lightnin' Wells, Saturday, September 17.

Piedmont Blues Guitar with Lightin' Wells
Saturday, September 17, 10:00am-4:00 pm
Tuition: $65.00 (register by September 3 for a 10% tuition discount)
Age 16+
Skill Level: Intermediate (should know chords and some fingering)

Concert with Lightnin' Wells
Saturday, September 17, 7:00 pm
Admission: $10.00 (available at the door, or online beginning September 6)

Come join Lightnin Wells for this workshop in Fingerpicking Piedmont Blues guitar. This is an intermediate workshop, which means that you should know chords and some fingering, but you can be new to the blues. Later that evening he'll be playing a house-style concert in CCSA's lobby. These informal concerts are always entertaining as well as informative, offering a glimpse into the life and travels of the performer.

With his experience, knowledge and well-honed performance skills, Lightnin' Wells has established himself at the forefront of the traditional blues revival. His musical style is personal and energetic yet remains true to the original root form. His goal is to entertain and educate using a variety of sources, influences and techniques to express his dedication, respect and pleasure in presenting this unique American art form. This sounds like a great opportunity. Unfortunately, I am going to a wedding that day and have to miss it. Hope the workshop is repeated so I can go next time.
