FURCH G25-LR Swiss Alpine Spruce Mastergrade Indian Rosewood

We are extremely proud to present more exciting options for our all popular Furch models. Made possible by our great friends at Furch, we have this shipment of Furch guitars built with Swiss alpine spruce top, a top wood often available only through smaller boutique builders.

Harvested from the Swiss Alps, Swiss alpine spruce has some of the best characteristics of a really good Adirondack top but also the responsiveness and bell-like tone of Engelmann. It shines in fingerstyle and hybrid picking and handles moderate strumming with ease, making it a great all-rounder

Prized by luthiers for its quick response and great headroom. This light weight top projects harmonic complexity and offers unparalleled fullness at the lower end of the dynamic range, allowing for rich bell-like tones across a wide tonal spectrum. Aesthetically, It enjoys the added advantage of a gorgeous colour and uniformity in grain over adirondack red spruce tops, another Holy Grail of topwoods for steel-string guitars.

Indian rosewood was chosen to complement the back and sides as they have an extremely high velocity of sound and a broad range of overtones. In particular, they contribute to a strong and complex bottom end which imparts an overall warmth to the tone of a guitar. A mastergrade rosewood was chosen for this series to exemplify the tonal advantages attributed to this tonewood.

Do check out our website for full specifications and feel free to contact us if you have any inquiries.

Default FURCH G22-LR Swiss Alpine Spruce Honduras Mahogany

FURCH G22-LR Swiss Alpine Spruce Honduras Mahogany

This would be our most affordable Furch grand auditorium custom-built with Swiss alpine spruce top, a top wood often available only through smaller boutique builders.

Honduras mahogany was chosen to complement the back and sides as they offer a clean, punchy and woody tone. They are warmer sounding than most guitars built with sepele or ovangkol and age very well over time to give a much desired airiness.

Default FURCH G25-AB Adirondack African Blackwood

FURCH G25-AB Adirondack African Blackwood

Decked in AAAA adirondack tops and african blackwood back and sides, these guitars are certain to please with specifications that are hard to beat at this pricepoint. Other features include a true ebony fingerboard, award winning LR Baggs anthem electronic pickup and improved bracings for a bigger tone and improved structural stability.

Eastern Red spruce, also known as Adirondack, was chosen for the topwood as they exhibit a high velocity of sound, and has the highest stiffness across and along the grain of all the topwoods, making them extremely stable tops. They exhibits strong fundamentals like sitka spruce but with much more complex overtones. This stiffness also provides for plenty of volume with a rich fullness of tone that retains clarity at all dynamic levels.

Adirondack has been the primary topwood used by American manufacturers before World War II. Its use was discontinued due to over-harvesting but has been reintroduced thanks to 50 years of regeneration and to the legendary status that this traditional tonewood has attained. The small size of most logs and shortage of old-growth wood conforming to market preference for even color and regularity of grain keeps the price of red spruce extremely high. If players and builders were able to overcome phobias about unevenness of color, grain irregularity and minor knots, red spruce may very well be the Holy Grail of topwoods for the steel-string guitar.

African blackwood was chosen for the back and sides as they are known to provide for outstanding volume and power. It's tonal richness has also been compared well to Brazilian rosewood, besting it in some ways. A generally heavier and more stable wood than the more widely known brazilian rosewood, african blackwood offers clarity, sustain, orchestral weightiness, sweetness, and plenty of reverberating overtones.

African blackwood is also amongst the densest woods in the world (and also one of the most expensive). The trees grow in isolated areas of the west african deserts and the trunks of these trees are twisted and small, making it rare to find aesthetically pleasing sets.

This is easily one of the richest sounding factory produced guitar amongst the thousands of guitars we have played. It's luxurious appointments and tonal richness certainly puts many "hand built" guitars to shame.

Do check out our website for full specifications and feel free to contact us if you have any inquiries.

Default FURCH G25-AM Adirondack Madagascar Rosewood

FURCH G25-AM Adirondack Madagascar Rosewood

Decked in AAAA adirondack tops and madagascar rosewood back and sides, these guitars are certain to please with specifications that are hard to beat at this pricepoint. Madagascar rosewood was chosen for the back and sides for characteristics often compared head to head with brazilian rosewood. Tonally, madagascar rosewood offers great bass response with an exceptionally dynamic high-end often not found in east indian rosewood. This build exhibits this trait perfectly. You will hear some of the sweetest trebles with an exceptionally articulate and dynamic mid range, and a rich bass end (Abeit less bell-like than its african blackwood counterpart) which will certainly delight any player.

We are very delighted with this build which we feel is definitive in terms of value at this pricepoint. It certainly sets a tough benchmark for guitars to match.
