Default NGD - Epi Masterbilt DR-500 MCE

Picked this beauty up at Sam Ash today. I cannot believe the great tones and playability with these Masterbilts. This one just sings...

They set it up, lowered the action a tad, and put on new strings (Martin Lifespan SP 80/20 bronze lights), and I am over the moon with the way this thing plays and sounds... Still need to plug it in to my Acoustasonic, Jr., so I'm anxious to hear how she sounds plugged in, as well. The 2-pickup combo should be interesting.

I got it at 15% off - with a used case thrown in to boot - so not a bad deal at all.

I wanted the sunburst finish, and they only had one left in the store. (They had one natural finish, as well - but I preferred the sunburst). And I got lucky, because this one's a winner. The natural one played just as nice, though, I've got to say.

Anyway, here's the new family member:

I own four AJ-500s and they're all keepers. One is my continual main gigger.

Welcome to the Family,

Very nice! I was actually toying with one of those as my 2nd guitar when I got the Ed Sheeran Martin instead. I hope it brings you years of joy

Congrats! I have the AJ-500m that I installed a K&K pure mini in, it's my favorite pickup so I usually seek out guitars with no electronics so I can add my own.

Absolutely awesome guitars..... love it.

Thanks, guys - I know it's still the honeymoon period, but this thing just plays and sounds unbelievable.. I can't believe the quality with these - a $650 axe...

Plugged it in last night into the Acoustasonic Jr. and it sounded fantastic. I still need to do a little more research on the two pickups (the Shadow NanoMag, and NanoFlex), and try the two-amp thing, etc.

The eSonic-2 preamp works well so far - accurate tuner, a "phase" switch that cuts off feedback, and EQ.
