And by the way, if my experience recording fiddles is any indication, I would imagine that you are in for a LOT of experimenting.

Surprisingly, getting a nice fiddle wavemap hasn't been as difficult as the guitar (at least for me). Midwinter, how do you like the Para EQ pedal? I've heard good things!!

Do not hesitate! I own two (pre-ToneDexter and pre-digital mixer with 4-band full parametric EQ on every channel)!

Default A Marriage Made In Heaven?

The ToneDexter and Taylor Expression System 2 = A Marriage Made In Heaven!

I've Dexterized the ES2 of two Taylors, a 322ce and 618e, and the foundation the ES2 gives the ToneDexter to work with is tops! The ES2, to my ears, is a standalone system, but the ToneDexter is the icing on the amplified tonal cake by giving the ES2 signal a bit more roundness and air. I'll try to get some files up soon.

The crowded, loud bar last night had a great sound system with massive monitors and more importantly an attentive, patient and knowledgable sound engineer. We really dialed it in. With the ToneDexter's character knob at noon, a high pass filter around 120Hz to give the bassist more room, a 3dB dip at 400Hz, and a touch of reverb my guitar sounded fantastic. Easy peasy.

The ToneDexter rocks. I have nothing but praise.

Indeed, it does! Finally, ToneDexter makes the old "My guitar only louder" wish thingy, now a reality!

I've just recently been following this thread and have read up a little about the Tonedexter and watched some videos. Interesting technology. So was wondering what this means for other suppliers of pickups? Does it render a great pickup system obsolete? or does it still require a decent pickup system to obtain the best results? In other words, are there any particular firms or products that will suffer as a result of this new device? Thx.

OK, that narrows it down considerably.

Simply not possible. Such a venue does not exist.

Its relevant that ToneDexter can handle passive pickups as well as active systems. The anecdotal evidence so far is that a K&K Pure Mini/ToneDexter combo works much better than a Baggs Lyric/ToneDexter combo. (If I'm counting right, at least three ToneDexter users, including a ToneDexter field tester, have swapped out Lyric systems for Pure Minis.) It certainly does seem that ToneDexter will be shuffling the deck a bit, with respect to what pickups are most desirable for best overall results.

Nirvana, right? Seriously. The guy was at the board for four hours - and at both of our breaks came up to ask if we would like any changes. E-man at The Cabin in Park City is the bomb.

Ahhh. We haven't played there (yet). I need to hit them up again.

I generated some WaveMaps yesterday afternoon for my Martin HD-28 Trance Amulet M and Taylor 618e ES2. I placed the mic about 10-inches out and about 4-inches below and aimed at the neck/body joint. The tone isn't too bad but I can probably do better with more experimentation but I just wanted to get something going to listen to over my Line 6 L2t. I'm going to make some .wav files this afternoon with these two guitars and try to get something up later.
