I had a look. The scale length is between soprano and concert, too short for me.

It seems to be a lot like a tenor guitar - essentially the same thing, with a short scale. Standard tuning is different, but tuning is whatever you want, really.
I have a short scale tenor, built for me by a friend, that I love. It’s tuned like a mandolin, GDAE. Great sounding instrument. Here’s a tune I wrote for it a few years back. https://soundcloud.com/rickwaugh/cerulean-solo-tenor-1

I'd seen this plus a YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5k_cyDt-gRQ), so I sent Seagull a request for additional information & possibly a brochure.
Reply: "Hi Matt, The new Seagull steel ukulele has a solid spruce top, a maple neck and body, a 1.38" nut width, open back tuners, factory installed electronics and a double action truss rod. It's only available with a burst semi gloss finish. Regards, Michel " |

Weird looking little bugger. I like it.
I guess it's more of a Cavaquinho, kind of? I'd like to see Seagull/Godin make more "world" stringed instruments...I played a Multioud last year and it was really cool...maybe a Cuban Tres? |

This uke looks interesting to me, love Seagull, I have had a couple of their guitars and liked them a lot. I also have one of the little Merlin dulcimers, it is great fun. Not quite the same but in the electric uke vein, I've been eyeing a couple of solid body electric ukes sold by Rondo Music. They are the Agile brand which gets great reviews for their made in Korea guitars. I have a semi hollow Agile six string that I enjoy very much.
