Kent, yes, I take a few down to the beach and play them between writing cheques to my self (that's real hard work, it provokes my bank allergy).

I've been away from the AGF for a couple of weeks and am just now seeing this thread. As a proud member of the McKnight family, I congratulate you, Trevor, on both your choice of a great builder and on the guitar's specifics. I suspect you will be as pleased with your new McKnight as I am with mine!
Sorry to hear about Tim's bronchitis. Hope he's feeling chipper by now. Sorry, that's a bad choice of words for a luthier, I know! It's good to see encouraging words from other luthiers. However, Kent, this is just Too Much Information! I'd been led to believe that creating a magical guitar involved, well, magic! Quote:
I look forward to following this build, and to its final result. cotten |

Nice work, Tim! Looks like you're using the same epoxy that I use.

Cool rosette and looks like it is coming along nicely.. can't wait to see more!!!
But I have to ask..... and this is serious business here.... I know I haven't been around this forum for that long.. but this is the first time I ever seen Tim rocking a mustache in the many build pictures I've seen from his builds. Is this something new? Or, is it returning to the stache' after a time away from it? Like I said, important stuff! BTW, I like it, I think it suits ya Tim

Wasper, The mustache is new and about a month old. I wore one for 20 years then I was encouraged to get rid of it, ahmmmmm but now it mysteriously appeared again. It used to be blond but now its white and I just can't figure that one out??? One more update on Trevor's build specs... The top is actually called B.C. Engelmann which is quite different than your run of the mill Engelmann spruce. This spruce is a naturally occurring hybrid of Engelmann and White spruces found only in a very remote and small area of British Columbia. Its extremely stiff along the grain more akin to Adi. I only have a limited number of these tops from a purchase I made over 10 years ago but they are quite special. |

I am using TAP "Super Hard" epoxy resin. Its a great product but it is more prone to permeate the sides and show up on the other sides which requires additional sanding. When this product is gone I have another resin that I am going to try that is not suppose to bleed through??? I have found that if you seal the outer sides before laminating, with shellac or lacquer sanding sealer, it will reduce [some] of the bleed through.

Thats a dust collector on yer lip!
Why not Titebond or Fish or Hide Glue on the sides? Just curious. |

Trevor, nice choices... Tim, nice coco-filter there, and you can back off using the "Selsun-gray" a bit.. at least, that's what I tell 'em...
BC Englemann... man there's going to be a lot to investigate when I finally get to sit down in the wood room and narrow down the top selection!!! Phil |

The thing above Tim's lip is a caterpillar. I am looking for proper bug spray to kill it gently. He sleeps pretty soundly. My scissors are quiet.
