Default 29" scale long neck banjo?

I currently own a Vega SS-5, which is a 32" scale long neck. I have been talking to Zachery Hoyt about building a 29" scale long neck, which I think would allow me to still tune to "E", but without so much extended reach. I don't like the way the fret markers are placed on the Vega, so if I do this, I'll have them placed in standard position.

I'm actually thinking of ordering a replica of the one I bought recently but with the 29" scale.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure but I was thinking at the 5th fret, as usual.
