Default Humbucker on an Emerald?

Because there isn’t traditional soundhole on the Emeralds, is there a way to get a humbucker installed in it somehow?

Seems it would have to be real thin PU mounted just like it was on a solid body? But I certainly am not qualified to know if that would work. Never tried it.

Someone has done this in the past--maybe Kramster. I recall seeing photos.

I also recall seeing an example of an Emerald with one installed. Inquire with Sean @ Emerald about it. I’m sure it’s possible.

I don’t own an Emerald and can’t say for sure, but the Lace Ultra Thin HB pickup should fit. It’s been used on a Journey OF660 (see that thread a few days ago). Can’t imagine an Emerald wouldn’t accomodate the Lace.

I did put a Sunrise in my Cargo... had to cut out for it... only works in an earliest model as newer ones have a V brace... a Lace would be easiest .

There’s this example. Also, I recall seeing one with a pickup mounted right at the end of the neck. Looked great in that position.

The idea of a thin pickup that was surface mounted was just discussed a month ago, then revived a couple of days ago in this OF660 thread:

I ageee the pickup should be mounted close to the neck. With the Lace and some double-sided tape, I imagine you could try out different locations.

Wow, they cut out the top to mount these pickups? Interesting. Are you the owner of this instrument?

No problem. I sometimes make terse replies.
Regarding magnetic P/Us, I prefer them because I wanna be LOUD!
Better than sliced wheat bread with cold turkey and miracle whip...

Good luck in your quest for amplified tone. I recommend the following concert at high volumes.
