Default Why does Ed Roman Guitars not like Taylors?

Just wondering, after reading this article, it doesnt sound like he's too hot about them.

the man has a point, you can get other guitars with the same excat kind of wood taylor uses for almost 1/2 the price. of course they still sound like crap...but I understand the selling method he is using

.

Ed Roman and his whole sales gang trash Taylor.
They say that Tacoma is a better sounding guitar.
But if you read Ed Romans rants you'll find he
trashes alot of things. I live in Vegas where Romans is at and
they deal mostly in electric guitars. They have a very,
very large selection of electrics but their acoustic room
is very small in comparison. They wont let you touch
their guitars but will play it for you if you like ??!!??
Also they do sell Taylors because they want to be
in the Taylor boom.

Yeah Ed, I'd like to buy one of those Tacomas you got for sale there. How much? sure thing, but, you can't touch my money, i'll be glad to describe it for you though.

i love that he calls the NT neck a "bolt on neck" to make it sound cheap - hilarious considering what an amazing thing the NT neck is

Roman guitars was involved in a suit with Taylor over publishing prices. It left a bad taste in his mouth. Much like how Taylor has pi$$ed a bunch of people off here. FWIW, I've owned a Tacoma and quite a few Taylors. Taylor is nicer then the Tacomas, both in sound, playability, and construction.

I called them once in my search for a W65. The salesman was so pushy!!! He asked me why I didn't want a Tacoma? That comment shocked me a bit! I told him I already had had one and didn't like it. This made him try harder to push the Tacoma's. I almost hung up on him.

Ed spends a lot of time going negative on Paul Reed Smith guitars, which to me are the electric equivilant of Taylor..similar storyline and ownership. At the unofficial PRS Forum there are many discussions of Ed's attacks on PRS and promotion of his own guitar line....the guy needs to focus more on selling less on hammering the products he sells.

Mr. Roman has a reputation on the forums for bashing those brands he doesn't push. On top of which I have read numerous complaints about how he does business over the years. Rn a search here or at teh AG forums and see what folks have had to say about his operation if interested.

I get the feeling Ed Roman doesn't like too many people.

The guy does sound like a total blowhard from what's on his site, although I must admit I only looked at it once and that was months and months ago.

Nonetheless, if you haven't tried the tacoma koa jumbo, you should, they are truly wonderful guitars that cost half of 814's and 815's, those Taylors have little or nothing over them. Kind of gibson-like neck and funny looking fretboard markers, but other than that, I like them a lot! If I was choosing between a 31X or a 41X or a tacoma koa jumbo, I'd do the tacoma.

The original Tacoma Road King is the travel beater that everyone should have.

IMHO
