I'm pretty sure it was the Doobies, must have been '78 or '79. They were promoting the "Minute by Minute" album, which had not yet been released.

Journey. The first concert in the new (then) Biloxi Colluseum. The Babies opened for them and almost showed up Journey. They put on one of the best shows I've ever seen. Then Journey came out and ... well, they rocked. This was back in '79 or '80 when they were, in my opinion, at their best.

Johnny Winter and the James Cotten Blues Band, early '70s -- Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I was at the front of the stage. It was great!

Carlos Santana during the Sacred Fire Tour, was 12 at the time, not a bad first concert.

I can't remember if it was Boston and Sammy Hagar or if it was Foreigner; But, I went to two concerts in a row that week. It was 1977 I think.

P.S. I was only 2 years old, yah! thats the ticket, I was 2!

The Who, The Troggs, and The Ohio Express...triple bill.

Ottawa Civic Centre, 1967.

BTW...Tayloresque...I was at that Johnny Winter show as well. And, I also saw the James Cotton Blues Band at Le Hibou, in Ottawa in 1968. I was 14...haha. I went to a lot of shows from age 13 on. One that I remember was in 1968 or so, seeing Bruce Cockburn at Le Hibou. It was the midnight show. Hibou was a small club seating maybe a couple of hundred. Cockborn came out, and my buddies and I were all sitting in the front row.

He just looked down at us...a row of teenyboppers, made a crack to the audience about us...everyone laughed, and he started his solo show.

Even back then, he was an amazing guitarist.

I think it was The Outlaws, at the Commack Arena (now I think it's the Long Island Arena) in '75-'76. It was either them or the Charlie Daniels Band (who I've seen 17 times). I was big into southern rock back then. I was fortunate enough to catch Lynyrd Skynyrd's last New York show at Madison Square Garden.

Speaking of concerts, how 'bout them prices? I can remember paying $12.00 to see Led Zeppelin at MSG, and that was a fortune in those days. Concert t-shirts were all of five dollars.

A radio station pal o' mine recently hooked me up with tickets for Aerosmith. At that show, the cheap "seats" (standing room on the lawn at Coors Amphitheatre in San Diego) were $30.00, and t-shirts were a minimum of $25.00.

I don't go to a lot of concerts anymore, and I rarely pay for the ones I do go to. If I had to, I probably wouldn't go. The prices border on the ridiculous...

Steve

I can't really remember the very first, I went to several, one right after the other. It was '78 or '79 in Savannah, I think it was Heart, but I can't remember who opened for'em. Around that time I also saw Boston with Sammy Hagar opening for them, and Jimmy Buffet with The Amazing Rhythum Aces (awesome band) opening for them.

Wow! Brings back good memories, at least the ones I can remember..............

Heh heh heh I saw Autograph open for Van Halen in 1984....didn't know about the theme song gig though, now that's funny.

My first concert was Molly Hatchet and The Outlaws in 1980, kind of forgettable....

We "mature" folks from the NYC metro area (are you there, Joe? ) will remember Murray "the K" Kaufman from WINS radio. Murray used to host an annual rock 'n' roll show, originally at the Brooklyn Fox, and later in Manhattan. I went to the first one in Manhattan, I think in '66. The headliner was Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, who tore up the place even though Ryder had bronchitis. The opening acts -- I still can't believe this -- included The Blues Project, Cream, and The Who.

Gee, was it Sam the Sham & the Pharoahs, or the Royal Guardsmen (Snoopy & the Red Baron) or the Standells (with drummer Cubby from the Mickey Mouse Club) somewhere back in '67 I think. That was at Willowpoint Park in Webster, NY. Then it was the Byrds at the U of R. At midnight, Jefferson Airplane came over from the War Memorial venue to join the Byrds in a jam session.

Whoa what a bill!

Sure, I remember "The Fifth Beatle." hehehe

I'm pretty sure my first REAL (pro) concert was The Who (with Sweetwater opening for them) at The Fillmore East in 1969(?)
