These brands have been mentioned several times, while I certainly agree, I'm wondering what guitar stores actually carry these two brands. As far as I know First Act is a Walmart/Target deal and Esteban is QVC/Home Shopping.

Those were tongue-in-cheek responses

Fender. Love their electrics. A Strat is my favorite guitar of all, at any price. Easily.

For acoustics, I can't stand them. I tried to like them. Nope!

Gibson is a close second. I like Gibsons, and I know they make great stuff, I just can't get them at all. Had money to buy an LP a few years back, any model I wanted. I tried a lot. Tone was good, but the feel was not me at all, and it felt unbalanced, like a boat anchor. Their acoustics are decent. I liked the Advanced Jumbo a lot, but the J45 was the one I "loved" until I played it. Very nice... but.... just not as much as my D28. Of course Gibson makes good stuff, as does Taylor, but after you mature your taste, there will be certain ones that just appeal more to you. Personal preference.

Like girls: What's "better", a crazy red-haired stripper or an exotic, dusky-hued Lady Satan? Neither. Both are death and life. The choice is personal preference.

Of course you are talking about Yamaha guitars. But "stick with one"? Ever play a Yamaha piano (Sir Elton John uses their grands all of the time.)?? Yamaha drums (Tommy Aldridge uses them.)??? Yamaha bass (Billy Sheehan has a signature model from Yamaha.)????

I know you're entitled to your opinion....

I will try anything. Though I respect the Gibson heritage (and admire many of their acoustics) I am unlikely to buy (a new) one in the foreseeable future.

I also wish they'd never left Kalamazoo.

Sure was neat to have em build my home state. <sigh> If one of the majors could move to Alabama maybe again!
