Hi Marshall. That little string doo-dad that you put on the jack end of all your straps interests me.

I'd feel safer with a better connection on that end, but want to be able to quickly remove it.

I have looked at the "TapaString" device, http://tapastring.com/strapkeeper0605.htm but it seems inelegant to me. What's your method exactly ?

Any close-up detail shots appreciated. Cheers ! Jon

I've had a lot of straps. My favorite is made by Couch, it's like a combination of the best aspects of leather and vinyl. It's made of old seat-belt material from the 1970-80's. I can wear a Les Paul for a couple of hours before my shoulder starts to talk to me, unlike any of my other straps, even thick/wide/padded ones.

I tie knots at both ends with shoe-lace material. It's actually fun hunting for kookie shoe laces to use. Around the end pin i use a hangman's noose. i can carry my guitars Jonny Cash style then. Around the neck button i use a custom designed knot that wraps the button and feeds up through the strap eyelets. Then I tie a visible knot. (Square knot) and wrap the ends around. it's fun to get a shoelace that will fray up at the end for a fringy visual effect.

LoL! I got one of those and the matching orange "Department of Corrections" in a guitar case. Sold them for five bucks each, never used.

I have a nice padded cordovan and black padded Levys, and I just made one yesterday that I'll finish today or tomorrow following the instructions KyDave linked to.

Thanks M.

The extra deep collared Fender-style pin on the underside of the heel works fine for me.
Why DO they make all the stoopid end-pin jacks with so little collar space on them ??!!! It seems it could be such an easy basic design fix.

She got pregnant with me and put me up for adoption. We met in 1995 after completing a 6 year search for her. The strap is an original "Peace & Dove" Ace strap.

Not sure who made yours, but I have (what I think is) this identical strap in blue al la Neil Young made by Jeridesigns. THE most comfortable strap I own, but couldn't get it to copy to this thread.

I'm curious, I thought this design originated with Neil Young but you say yours is the "original Peace and Dove Ace Strap." What does that mean ? Was someone else doing it and Neil adopted it ? What constitutes an "Ace" strap ?

Love it !

John

My current favorite is a Taylor suede strap. I don't have a pic but they are easy to find on the web.
