Default do you collect other things?

Hi guys,

do any of you guys collect things other than guitars and music related stuff? I have a modest collection of movie memorabilia from my favorite film. Trying to not let it get out of hand though. Happy wife, happy life plus storage is an issue.

Default Do you collect other things?

In the words of Gordon Lightfoot, cobwebs and dust...

Fountain pens.

My wife would say bicycles but that's not fair. She's same height and uses them just as often or more than me.

Watches and pocket knives.

And I have a ridiculous quantity of beer glasses.

I wouldn't call anything I do "collecting" but I have acquired and retained some individual items of some monetary value. Guns, bamboo fly rods, books, and a few other items.

Example, I don't collect knives but have a 19th century switchblade.

I collected vacuum tubes for decades because I was an electric guitarist. I need to sell them off someday since I've gone acoustic but it's going to be a pain.

Those "fishtail" switchblades used to come on cards, and were widely available at general/hardware/auto/grocery/sundry/candy stores until the Federal Switchblade Act of 1958 - I remember seeing them for sale as a kid, my dad used to carry one in his pocket when he went to the "uptown" Manhattan jazz clubs and dance halls as a teenager in the 1930's (and for many years thereafter), my grandfather had a couple in his tool kit, and if you can find an original, intact, fully-stocked sale card (in a community/state where sale is legal) they're worth a small fortune TMK...

I have collected many old advertising pieces and it's run a muck! But I do love it, my basement is more of an old country store now. Just the way I like it! These are my original condition cardboard Hammer Brand knife displays. It took me many years to pull all these knives together and fill the cards. These knives sold new for around .30 cents a piece, back in the 1940s and 50s. I cleaned all the knives too!
