They're not. My Squier Classic Vibe Strat is way lighter than my US Strat.

Agreed. The pine body tele's are rather lightweight. I mainly play jazzmasters and jaguars, so I'm used to heavy guitars. The CV Teles I've tried have been significantly lighter.

is the Classic Vibe 1 & 11/16th nut? I know the Affinity Strat series is 10/16th which is more a kids guitar.

It is 1.625 so a little narrow. Easy to get used to though. This is a fantastic guitar for the money and sounds great through a Fender Blues Jr.
