Neck Removal Question

Should the truss rod be backed off if a neck [maple] is going to be removed from the body for an extended period of time?

I have stored several necks and do remove the tension from the truss rod and just snug the nut. That should be just fine. I would check at least once a year to make sure the nut turns freely and of course I would not store in a very humid/wet area. -- Darwin
