Finishing my second guitar.
Music-wise I've been listening to the songs of my teenage years in the 60's and playing those. Simple songs but fun to sing and play. I'm stuck at the house for a while after having prostate surgery so not much to do but watch videos and play guitar. It'll be a while before I can get out in the shop.

Roland Dyens arrangement of Felicidade. I'm about a page into it, but it's not a trivial piece to play. I'll have to see how far I get.

Been playing a lot of classical stuff lately. In drop D: I'm polishing up "Home" by Andrew York and plan on recording it. And some Gaspar Sanz from his Española suite, as well as some Telemann for 2 guitars. In standard: Also lately, I've been warming up with some favorite Aguado studies and #24 by Coste. (Also on the recording dock.). Villa-Lobos preludes 1, 3 and 4. I've been on a Scarlatti kick too: K11, K81, K208, K322 and K431, for the most part. And some Satie: Gnossienne No.1 and a Knowles arrangement of the more well known Gymnopédie No. 1 Not all classical though: A few Pat Donohue tunes (which I also want to record); Anji; Classical Gas (playing that with the instrumental backing track I found on YouTube.) Vincent (Chet arrangement). That's on the rotation lately. But it changes. Got to keep things fresh. I try to spend at least 90min. to 2 hours in the morning playing. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Knock on tonewood, still pain free.

As for what I'm working on, I'm arranging a few Hermeto Pascoal songs for solo guitar. I'm starting with "Little Church," which I did a sketch of last year and then set aside...time to get back to it! |

The Gnossienne arrangement I'm working on is also by Dyens. His was by far the best conceived transcription. Thankfully, a lot easier under the fingers than Felicidade. Dyens was a real force. One commenter described him as: "The hands of a classical guitarist with the mind of a jazz musician". That sums him up well. Good luck with Felicidade!

I am always working on multiple fronts on some things - fingerpicker, not classical but have dabbled......
But new various music books I ordered way back in November arrived yesterday!!!!! I love doing the whole tune, breaking one down to parts, playing all the melodies, adding bits, improvising, sight reading practice - wherever it takes me! And now I have my incredible (to me) 1968 Ramirez Estudio to practice on - owned for one month on this very Saturday (from a pawn shop - unbelievable). Great 56 year old tone played quietly, just beautiful then I can really lay in...! Insane! Who sold this beast? BluesKing777. |

Great thread! It’s interesting to see what others are working on.
I’m working on the BWV 998 Prelude and the first BWV 995 Gavotte. I could play them tolerably well about 20 years ago, and want to be able to play them at least as well today. I’m also working on my own arrangements of “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” and the Beatles’ “I Will.” |

My "set list" which I play through 4-5 times a week:
All the above I have under my fingers and committed to memory. I'm currently working on Celil Refik Kaya's arrangement of Billie Eilish's "What Was I Made For". Almost most done with this one and it's such a beautiful song. |

A couple of mentions of Beatles tunes above ............very famous tunes are great for working on making the melody really sing! And some of the Beatles tunes can work fantastically well with a very simple structure - solo classical guitar!
In my music book collection I have quite a few Beatles options.....basic chord/lyric fake book, basic lead/lyric sheet, Beatles bible with every note and sound they made, Beatles arrangements for intermediate fingerpicking, Beatles for jazz guitar! I would not normally do too many famous muso’s whole tunes for visitors and other people watching, but I do love to throw in a famous riff and watch all the ears wiggle! The old jazz sax guys did that a lot.... BluesKing777. |

It is, but the thread is about repertoire, not building/repair. Nice project though. Have fun with it.
