Indeed.

Sorry to hear that. Been there...9 years ago. At the time, I thought it was the worst thing ever. But it turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to me and my career.

Hang in there!

And here I was thinking that my last guitar was the kind that could make a man quit his job.....

Yes, what Brencat said...it's been seven years for me and, surprisingly, the best thing that has happened to my career in many years. The "thank you, we couldn't have done it without you but you gotta go" moment was surreal, but it helped me to reassess life's priorities. And it gave me more time to play my guitars.....kicked my game up to another level. Good luck.

There is something quite humbling about trying to keep what you have versus trying to go in debt for yet another guitar. When I got laid off, I started with four guitars, now a few years later I am down to two. GAS doesn't even enter my mind, it doesn't stop me from looking and dreaming, or staying up with the latest and greatest changes, but I don't dream as much as I used to. I am reminded of the time my dad bought me my first guitar, I loved that 18 dollar Harmony guitar.

Sorry about the lay off - been there, done it, and I'm here to tell you that there is life afterwords. Mine actually improved....

So true. I'm about to be there myself. When faced with a choice to transfer or get laid off, well, they aren't offering me enough of a pay bump to make a transfer worth it (higher cost of living). I'll do better severing ties with my company and doing something else.

Oh well, it's only temporary until I launch my own business. It'll happen soon so in the meantime me working for/under someone is just a temporary situation (I hate having to answer to someone, I have a burning desire to be the head honcho LOL).

Good luck and a fast track to new employment. I'm not expecting to be severed as such yet but I am looking to make better ($$) connections so that's a motivator right now.

GAS - Last I remember I had it was 2007.
