Default Bad news/Good news

Bad news--my ring finger on my left hand is so swollen I can't even move it.

Good news--my 15 year old daughter can throw a really straight and powerful spiral with a football!

The finger will get better, and so will your daughter.

Goodonya for being on the other end of the throw. At age 15, daughters can suddenly decide they're having nothing to do with dad......

I was amazed at how fast she learned.

She came out in the yard and said, "Can you teach me to throw a football?"

Her class had been playing football in PE and she wanted to up her game. At first she didn't even know how to hold it. Her first few throws looked like wounded ducks or worse; the ball just flopped end over end going nowhere in particular.

Within about 10 minutes she was zipping tight, perfect sprirals right into my gut. It started getting dark, and we kept playing and before you know it the ball was getting to me faster than I could see it.

This morning I showed her my swollen finger and she held up her hand and said, "Look at mine!" Hers was swollen up just like mine!

Sounds like the two of you had a blast. That is worth a swollen finger for sure!

My daughter is 3 months old so I don't think her spiral would be that great right now. But I am trying to teach her how to smile

Play your guitars for her and I'm sure the smiling will come easy.

Is that how you hurt your finger?

Making bonding memories like that are worth the sacrifice of a little guitar practice time. I hope the closeness continues long after the fingers heal!

Good job on the daddying thing! While you're at it teach her a good golf swing too. You'd be amazed at how many college scholarships are available to girls who can swing a golf club.

I'm not much of a golfer but she says she wants to get into surfing this summer. That I can do. Golf-- not so much.
