Default Acrylic or Gel?

I've been using acrylic and I enjoy them. But I am considering trying these out
and would like some feedback. I used to never get my nails done, but I find I play a bit different with acrylics. It's a softer and brushier sound, more delicate and aware. So, I have been enjoying them quite a bit. Any thoughts?

Gel, definitely. They won't destroy the top of your nail when you remove them.

I haven't removed my acrylics in almost twenty years... never had any reason to do so.

I get them filled every five weeks, and they just keep on going.

I tried Gels before but they did not hold. They chipped and cracked. I have heard this from numerous people. On the flip side I have heard people say that gel is much stronger than acrylic. I am sure it also depends on the person applying and their technique, also how much gel they use. Ideally, it would be best to do them myself. I only put two fingers. Index and Middle

From Wikipedia ...

"They are less durable than acrylic. (Gel nail extensions may not work for those who are tough on their nails, such as those who type a lot, work with their hands, etc.)"

This is the clincher, for me ...I work with my hands all day, every day .... my acrylics never break.

I use acrylic and have tried but never found a better solution FOR ME. One thing I do is only cover half my nail bed and blend it down smooth to my real nail. This leaves half the nail exposed so it can properly grow.
