A USB mic is a one trick pony. MUCH better to get a regular mic (dynamic or condenser) and an audio interface.

But if you have already bought something that is great too, enjoy it, learn to use it, and down the road you might want to upgrade. Anton

I'm on the road all the time with just my acoustic, no pickup, and my laptop and no other equipment. I have a Blue Yeti and like it so much that I've bought two others for work projects. There are much better, of course, but the sound is good and it's easy to use.

Thanks, everyone. Back on the first page, I mentioned that I got a used Blue Yeti with windscreen and shock mount for $90. It's actually what I need to dip my toe into recording.
Things are busy at the moment, but I hope to have some time to play around later this month. I appreciate all the continued input, and I'll keep these in mind for my next purchase.

thank you Mark,
here is my latest blog post on this recording: Home recording of acoustic guitar through a microphone and piezo DI - how to do it yourself in 5 short steps. Even if your home studio is not yet prepared with acoustic adaptation you can always look for "ways out" to record acoustic guitars in acceptable quality. Here is a try with Audio Technica ATM450 cardioid condenser microphone (199 Eur, new) via TC Electronic Desktop Konnekt Firewire interface (80 Eur, used) Read full article |

I bought the highest priced bluetooth over the ears and they fell apart within 3 months. Mono Price sent me a replacement set after I sent the old ones in. The second set lasted about 3 months. No more replacement and I don't look very seriously at their stuff any longer. |

Depends how you are recording. I use iPad and garage band. I use iRig to DI instruments and iRig condenser mic to record acoustic or classical guitars. Excellent value and top notch recording quality within GarageBand. Best of all cheap. I am looking into iRig acoustic- I have iRig stage for live amplified acoustics
http://www.ikmultimedia.com/mobile/p...acousticstage/ But iRig acoustic is the home studio version for recording. It can be done with iRig stage but it's a bit cumbersome as it uses a preamp - iRig acoustic does not have such a limitation. Hard to justify it though when I get great results with iRig condenser mic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
