Default MXR Phase 90....

I bought a used one from Guitar Center online. It arrived today. Deader than a door knob. I put a battery in it and the signal would come thru in the off position, but not when it was on. So I called the woman who inspected it, and she said to send it back and get a refund or take it to a local GC and they would refund it. I opted to take it to the local GC and had the refund applied to the purchase of a new one. I had to shell out an extra $20 but now I have a brand new MXR Phase 90. Sounds great !! They refunded the total I paid including shipping & handling & taxes.

Makes you wonder what kind of inspection was done. Congrats on your new Phase 90.

The foot switches wear out in those, at what seems to be a higher than average rate. You got one, and I've repaired two in a year. Replacing them is a pain, too.

Anyway, congratulations on your new pedal. That's one of my favorite phasers.

Congrats as well! I've used the 90 for years. The 90 is one of the few phasers that doesn't cause an amp to mush out on the low end when the pedal is used in front of an overdrive or overdriven amp.

I know I've posted this before, but it may be the 90's finest moment:

I use a phaser on this when my band plays it, because that's what I have, but I'm pretty sure the intro is a flanger. I think the phaser is on the solo sections.

Just a discussion point.

BTW, I use the RetroSonic Phaser, which is a Phase 90 clone with a volume control. Love it.

That's correct. The flanger is also used on "Unchained". The solo on "ATBL" is phased and doubled with an electric sitar. I love how the 90 gives the sense of motion during the solo without muddying up the lows on its low-end sweep.

Agreed. Phase 90 is actually all over that first album; I particularly dig it on "I'm the One"

I love the Phase 90. I've tried several different makes and models of phasers, but I always come back to the Phase 90. I would, however, like to try the new mini one that they released a while back.

Congrats on the new pedal!

Thanks !! I'm glad to hear it's popular pedal and used by many artists. It sounds like it was a very good choice.

I bought a new Phase 90, in 1974. It finally died in the late '90s, but it served me well all that time.
