Default Your commute?

My daily commute is 12 miles each way. I go through 56 traffic lights. Takes 45-50 minutes each way.

How about yours?

13 miles, mostly 70mph, 1 light, two stop signs. Your commute would drive me nuts.

What's a commute????? Seriously though, my last commute before retiring was 28 miles each way, but primarily a pretty ride along a quiet country road in rural Virginia....

A few years back it took me around an hour each way to go about 15mi. Few stoplights, but very heavy congestion due to our traffic growth drastically outpacing our road expansion rate.

The company I work for decided to trim the expenses for pricey downtown office space since everything we do is pretty much by email, conference calls and/or video conferences now. My team and I are all telecommuters. After I get up I go 10ft down the hall, down 15 steps and then take a right into my "office". Most days I do eventually put street clothes on at some point. Love it!

4.5 miles, down one major street. I'm lucky, even in city traffic it's about 15-20 minutes.

I work in a much smaller town than where I live.

28 Miles one way, on open, rural roads. Only two traffic signals. About a 35 minute drive.

When I worked in the DC area my commute was 79.8 miles each way...from my garage to my parking space at work. It generally took me an hour and a half to two hours each way.

When I was in St Louis before I retired it was 30 miles each way. Usually took me 25 to 30 minutes. Piece of cake.

These days I ain't gots no commute.

About 75 feet (because I’m retired.) During prime time of our lives, my wife and I drove about 50,000 miles/year each and burned through cars & nerves. I’m glad those days are long gone.

It's right at 30 miles from my house to work.

On the way in, the first 20 miles take 25 min.

The last 10 miles take me about 25 min. as well.

I work up one day separated from my job by a two mile traffic corridor that was so overdeveloped that the traffic made it a twenty-minute commute each way. Given that I was being called in after hours every other day and I had a family, I decided to move to give the hour and twenty minutes back to my family.

I now live a mile away in another direction and my commute is a very short five minutes and two stoplights. I don't get called in very often anymore.

Just shy of 2 miles. I often walk (~35 minutes), more often ride my bike (~8 minutes), or drive in the winter (~5 minutes). Biggest obstacles are deer, elk, and a narrow gauge steam train. There is never any traffic.

3 days a week I have a 15 minute drive to BART, then 30 mins to work on BART. My stop is a block from the office. 2 days a week I walk 10 feet to my office.

5 minutes each way, but I have to do it twice a day (home for lunch and a little guitar most days )

At this rate, and being self employed, I may never retire!
