i have a lr baggs anthem SL installed on my epiphone masterbilt. i have some problems with EQ, feedback and with the battery changing... and i don't have much money to buy pedals to solve the problems. i'm thinking about to buy a Anthem pro stage and sell my anthem SL. but i'm afraid of losing tone quality when i open a hole to install the preamp...so...what you guys think? make a hole on side wood will change my unplugged sound?

It shouldn't. For example, you can cut a soundport without decrease in tonal or sound quality and that's an open hole. You're replacing rigid side wood with a rigid plastic/metal replacement.

NEVER cut into an acoustic guitar for ANY reason, especially convenience. It ALWAYS changes the unplugged acoustic sound of your guitar.

I have never cut into the side. I've installed a lot of pu's in fiddles and mandos where there is no room for an internal preamp even if I felt like butchering some wood. There are plenty of inexpensive preamps that will give you a good sound. Here are the ones I've used, all under $100 US, and probably better and less $$ than whatever you want to Frankenstein into your guitar:

ART Tube MP
Behringer ADI21
K&K Pure

I now use a RedEye, which at ~$200 is not what I consider inexpensive.

Please ignore the condescending cork sniffer (Mickey C.). You have a great guitar that you value. Listen to the others (alohachris, et al.) and don't cut a hole in your guitar. It'll be cheaper to just get an LR Baggs Para DI (or similar) preamp which should solve your feedback problems; and you'll be able to also use it with any future guitar.

Also, the Anthem SL is a really quality pickup so maybe the problem is something simpler like just using a feedback buster in the sound hole or maybe your speaker placement?
