Default why not solder M1 & K&K to 1 stereo jack?

I've read a few times that it's ill advised to solder 2 pickups to one stereo jack?
Being both passive why not?

who is saying thats a bad idea? two sources are often times better than one

I have dual source in all my guitars. My Ryan has k&k with a Duncan Magmic as second source. Absolutely love it!

I've done exactly that as well as some other configurations. Works fine if the dual signals are sent to an appropriate preamp/blender/mixer.

Ok. Did you wire them to 1 stereo 1/4" jack?
I hate to drill a second hole in my Gibson AJ

I have just bought an Ultrasound DI max to run a stereo cable into and was going to wire them up together to do so. Just second guessing myself after reading a few comments.

Will an Ultrasound DI Max take in a stereo signal and split the signal within the DI to process the 2 signals separately?

one stereo jack will work. one source to the tip and the other to the ring

Yes, solder the hot leads from the pickups to tip and ring, respectively, and both grounds to the common ground on the jack.

The Ultrasound DI Max is a serviceable 2x1 preamp/eq/blender. What will be next in your signal chain?

Thank you for all the replies. I'm afraid I haven't figured out how to "quote" on my phone lol!
But to answer the question on my signal chain I would go out of the Ultrasound into my Yamaha MG124CX board to 2 Traynor Elite 10" powered speakers. One on a stand and one fold back. I play mostly duo or sometimes with a percussionist as well. Although I'd like to do some solo as well

Hi,

The issue you may encounter, is that there may be some cross-talk between two signals...
Ideally, you may use stereo jack cable with independent shielding of each signal wire.

Marek.

Given what Marek added, yes, with my background I know that "can" be a possibility. Just buy a "quality" stereo cable and you'll be fine. For reference, I can only say the 10' Mogami TRS cable I picked up did the job. Might a less expensive cable work? Sure, but, I was not interested in returns, nor was I disappointed. I had a Martin GPCPA4R with F1 system...added a JJB 330 (three 15mm piece array to the unused ring)...into an Ultrasound DI Max...worked flawlessly. Absolutely no discernible crosstalk.

Theory will say that it will still exist in minute form...but, but it was not detectible to the ear. And, I'll bet the levels it would take to actually measure it would make the room completely deafening to be in.

Best to you! My thoughts? Do it!!!

I've done this with an active pickup as well, you just need a 4-conductor jack. Alternative to a pre-amp blender. I think you can run a TRS---> TS-TS spliter cable and plug into any dual channel amp (I've been meaning to try this with my Artist Loudbox)

Funny, it took me three years of fussing about with my electric rig to "find my tone"! Now going acoustic I thought it would be so simple lol!
Oh well, have to have something to obsess about I guess!

Yeah, but part of the fun is the chase!
