Default Looking for Manual for CA GX MCE

I just bought a Composite Acoustics GX 5M-CE, serial#;5ME 08252-8. It plays well but it came without case or manual. I would love to have a manual to be able to safely/properly access electronics to change batteries and adjust tone and volume. Doubt it has/needs truss rod but would love to know. I emailed Composite acoustics and got e-mail saying they were bought out by Peavy and Peavy unwilling to help. Can anyone out there help me?

First CAs do not have trust rods. The electronic manual can be gotten off the pickup makers website. First you need to tell us the maker. Are the controls on the outside? Should be a name like L R Baggs or Fishman. Those are the ones they used the most. It may have wheels in the soundhole? Is the preamp electronics in the end pin or can you see it through the soundhole? Pics would help or any naming you see on the electronics.

Steve's right, no truss rod.

And if you can tell us which pickup, that will determine which manual you need.

Congrats on your new CA guitar!
Assuming you don't have the barn door electronics, the battery should be in a little nylon bag velcroed inside the guitar...

As others have stated, your CA has no truss rod. The fact that you mention 5M in addition to GX, suggests to me that yours was built pre-2007 when the GX was known as a 5M (if memory serves me well).

Default Looking for Manual for CA GX MCE

I will need to figure out how to upload pics to this site. Cable plugs into strap peg . Electronics are on upside (relative to floor) of guitar inside sound hole. 2 wheel Knobs. There is a little webbed nylon pouch inside the sound hole which I assume holds batteries.. Guess you have to take off strings to change battery. I am assuming on/off switch is in the cable jack.

Almost guarantee you have the LR Baggs IMIX system. I had it in my CA of a similar era. Cool part no barn door and it sounds very nice. You mix a Ibeam and a Undersaddle Pickup. Here is the manual see if the internal preamp matches. If this is the system consider yourself lucky!!!

Hey Dawkman,

I'm pretty sure we have some extra manuals laying around from when we were CA dealers. If you call me at the store on Monday after 11am California time I will look and see what I have that might be of use to you.

Steve, by the way the OP explains what he sees, I think you're right. I had the IMix in my pre-Peavey '08 GXi.

The Baggs iMix should be pretty easy to identify. The version that doesn't have a barn door preamp looks like this:

The iBeam should be easy to see with a mirror and the electronics clearly state "iMix".
