While having much in common with a "mortise and tenon" joint, I believe this neck is attached with a "Spline Joint". This guitar is an interesting technical achievement, a sot of Spanish/German/American amalgam.

No, the neck is clamped and glued to the body and the baltic birch spline is glued in as well. The spline connects the neck to the heel inside the body (which is connected to the top, sides and back). Lastly, the fingerboard is glued to both the neck and top completing the structure.

Default Rodgers Tuners

Peter forwarded some shots of the Rodgers Tuners which arrived.

We ordered them with black rollers with self aligning bearing bushings and oval ebony buttons.

The engravings on the brass plates are beautiful.

Default Finishing Continues...

Peter sent me some progress photos of the guitar under a few more applications of Pre-French Polish and an egg coat.

First, the cedar top...

The cherry back and sides...

Here are the tuners being fitted to the head...

Oh man, what gorgeous work.

That crisp little inside corner on the binding where the rounded-over edge meets the heel is really fetching...for such a small detail, it really jumped out at me. Impeccable, intentional, and elegant.

This is just stunning. The green purfling line is a very nice little touch also.

Looking forward to hearing review and clips (?) when it's done...purely from the visual standpoint, this guitar makes a very strong case for cherry as a guitar material.

Congrats!

Martin,

Here are a few more shots of the heel transition.

I will stop by and say "hi" at Woodstock.

:-)

Default Let the French Polishing begin...

Peter makes his own finishes. This one is called "beige" and its a bit more than classic shellac in that it is made from a variety of resins. Here is some finish along with some of the FP shellac application materials grain alcohol and olive oil to charge the pad.

Now that the surface has been prepared (danish oil, sanding, egg white finish, sanding) the polishing can now begin.

Tell ya what, miters don't get much better than that.
You're really going to have something to boast about.

Thanks Steve....It's really the person who created them that should be doin the boasting; but Peter is way to humble and zen for that. I just playem, look at it and smile.
