Default Looking to buy a used Reverend - which one?

I'm looking for a quality starter electric. I'm an acoustic player and want to learn to play electric. My musical taste is varied from modern country rock, classic rock, blues, pop, etc. Not heavy metal.

There are two Reverends available locally on craigslist that look decent.

Which one would you recommend and why? Or would you recommend something different altogether?

Thanks,

Another two to consider are the Buckshot and Flatroc:

https://www.reverendguitars.com/guitars/flatroc

Both fit well in the music you play.

Of the two you have listed, I would go for the Double Agent OG. I think the combination of humbucker and P90 will get you into any style you like, and by using the bass contour knob, you can get convincing single-coil tones from the bridge humbucker by rolling the bass down. Very versatile guitar. I haven't played the RG, but believe it to be more rock-oriented.

Hope that helps!

Any pros/cons on the tremolo vs the hardtail?

Thanks

I think the double agent would be a great choice.

Well, I fancy the look of the Double Agent, but I suspect that either guitar is going to serve you well...

I really like the Reverend line, and I own two old Gibson electrics! If I were in the market for a new electric guitar, I'd be looking closely at Reverends.

The Wilkinson tremelo system is fairly well-thought-of; it's not a Floyd Rose or a Kahler and won't do extreme stuff, but if you like to add a wiggle or two to your playing, they are relatively stable (returning to tune). Along with the locking tuners, they'll be a solid platform. Just depends on whether you want a tremelo bar or not.

Decent prices on both - which one looks better to you? I can tell you that the green one will grow on you in a very short time. When I first saw that color, I wasn't impressed at all (at my local store in Corvallis), but each time I visited that store, I came to like it more and more... if both guitars are local, go out and play them, hold them, see which one "feels" best to you.

Let us know if you get one or the other!

I vote for the OG. Love Reverend necks and the bass rolloff. Best bang for the buck.

I have a Reverend Flatrock and a Stu D Baker. Both are excellent guitars. I'd be leaning toward the Reeves Rev, and block the tremelo if it didn't suit me.
You won't go wrong with either guitar. Reverend is building super high quality products and is a great company to support with your purchase.

Just realized that both guitars coe with decent cases, which makes the price point even more attractive... Reverends do NOT come with cases, one of the few aspects of them that I don't like...

I bought the double agent OG. Beautiful guitar and case are in mint condition. Now I just need to learn to play it.

Try this one but ask for a sharp discount because he is pretty well road-worn.

Just kidding - he's man I really respect.
