Any fix for "Cloudy" (hazy?) top finish on 40 year old Aria Pro II PW-28
Hi all!
Back in the early 80s I had a wonderful little Japanese D-18 knockoff. I sold it years ago, but remembered it fondly (even though I now have 2 Taylors and a Gibson) Recently I came across a PW-28 (D-28H knockoff) from the same era at a great price that sounded phenomenal. So it came home with me. But the main reason for the killer price was that the top has large portions of finish that are "Cloudy" or "hazy". It has that whitish look that a moisture ring on furniture has, so I suspect trapped moisture. I can live with it, but if it can be fixed by anything other than a refin, I'd probably give it a try. I've read all kinds of ways to fix this problem in lacquer, but I suspect this is a poly finish of some sort. Any ideas? Thanks Phillip Last edited by Phillip B; 07-01-2017 at 05:58 PM. |

Oddly enough, the cloudiness seems to lessen under certain lighting or at certain angles.. If poly wasn't such a hassle to sand, I'd give refinishing a shot. But I probably have better things to do with my time! |

Maybe try some rubbing compound and an orbital polisher.
