Default Open Mic Set

I went to an open mic last night.

Here is what I played:

In the Flesh? -> The Thin Ice -> Another Brick In the Wall, Pt. 1 -> The Happiest Days of Our Lives -> Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2
Learning To Fly

I have been learning a lot of Pink Floyd lately. This set went over really well. It was a lot of fun to play.

Gear:

I brought my 2019 Fender Custom Shop '59 Esquire (with Josefina neck pickup installed).

And I plugged straight in to my 1974 Fender Vibrolux Reverb.

It was a good turnout. Most people played covers, but some played originals.

A lot of people played acoustic guitars. A few played electrics. Some people brought effects pedals. Others plugged straight in. It was fun to watch everyone get set up with their rig, and hear what they played through it.

--------

If you were to go to an open mic tonight, what would you play? What have you been working on, or what are your go-to songs? Would you play acoustic or electric? Or piano, etc.?

Open mics are always entertaining on numerous levels.

Wow, 6 songs at an open mic. Around here it's mostly 2. At the most popular one (by a landslide) it's one song and there are often 50 names in the hat for 35 slots.

Nice gear, btw.

Glad you had a good time. Six is a lot. You're lucky.

Yes, this was a lucky night!

It's a great open mic. I have been to it before.

Generally, each performer is allowed to do 3 songs, or about 12 minutes of music.

Before going up I told the host that I was going to do five songs, but explained that they were short and I was going to do them as a medley. That was all that I planned to do, but when I finished with the medley, the host asked me to stay up for one more song. So, yeah, six songs in total. That does not usually happen at an open mic.

That open mic with 50 names in a hat to fill 35 slots is wild. The host must run a smooth operation.

It's unique. And it's not just a host, it's a "village." But not germane to this thread, really.

Sounds awesome

You have a VERY open mic , I've been running one for a year and we don't allow any outside amps or effects and it's typically only 2 songs , at that we can barely fit every one in

I get 3 songs/15 minutes. I went 'Irish' last week.

1. Galway Girl
2. Toora Loora/Sweet Baby James mash
3. Whiskey in the Jar
