Had an '02 137 Custom. Very heavy on the shoulder. The only thing I could compare it to qualitywise was my '69 Les Paul. No contest. Sold it and started looking for another semi-hollow. The 335 was better but in my opinion, the D'Angelico was the one for me. Haven't looked back since.

I love the tone you are able to pull back to by backing off the volume control. I love the little extra complexity it exhibits over solid guitars. I love the classic good looks. I suppose that I've been wanting more of a range of tones available through touch sensitivity. I suppose this would do it, huh. Well, it'll be a while before it moves out of dreamland unless I sell off some other stuff...

Can you guys stop please? I sold my modified Epi DOT a year or so ago and really just started regretting it within the last month or so. This thread isn't doing anything to help my GAS!!!!

The 335 is truly a classic, a timeless work of art and that tri-burst finish Jazzrat showed us is simply amazing. It really would be a tough call between that and the natural, which was my favorite before seeing that tri-burst. I've also looked at the 137 quite a bit over the last year though I haven't had a chance to hoist one and plug in. I'd have to bring along my little Peavey Classic 20 to test drive both the 335 and 137, just seems like both of those guitars would be heavenly through that little dynamo.

Oh great, thanks a lot gang for bumping up my GAS level a notch or two.

Hey Thumbwrapper... Dave Philips Music in Philipsburg,NJ has a tri burst 335.... how's that for G.A.S. relief!! Russo Music in Trenton has a Larry Carlton model.

I once played a late 60's orange label 335.. I tried to buy it from the owner
(This was about 23 years ago) and as you may have guessed, he wouldn't part with it. Would a historic 335 be cheaper than a Historic LP?

I think I'll go listen to "Room 335"!!!

Woo hoo, those are really good-looking guitars! Thanks for the photos.

Last Saturday I saw several lefty 335s on the wall at Southpaw Guitar. Being the practical and broke person that I am, I let them hang, and left with a NIB DeArmond by Guild Starfire in natural. Made in Korea with DeArmond USA Goldtone humbuckers, a sweet guitar.

Feels like a boat compared to my Tom Anderson but love the mojo and tone
of my 335. Landed this virtually unplayed, under the bed, blonde 87' -it plays superbly
and fit and finish rivals that of any recent historics or custom shops Ive had opportunity to
sample.

You need one Bob!

Natural 335’s from the 80’s are fantastic, and generally a great deal too. I really love the look. In later years Gibson got heavy into the flame. Some of the naturals from the late 90’s were cheesy flamey in my opinion Nice guitar kanikapila!

This thread is killing me. STOPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

Okay, let's see: My GAS will be over when I get a D-45 (or V-45) and a 335. Then I am really done.

On second thought, I'll probably need a nice 12 string. But after that, I am done!
