Not everybody gets the breathing thing, and that's OK.

You know what's really soothing? The smell of freshly baked bread. Maybe it's just because that heavenly aroma encourages you to breathe deeply? Every home (or genie bottle) should have a bread machine.

I can only forgive you for failing to see that this is not allowed here.

It can't happen here

Funny...my frontal cortex seems to work better when I take deeper breaths.

Isn't that exactly what spouting quips and silly nonsense is doing ? Using the fontal area to control aggressiveness and impulse control.
I am not sure which area controls "taking oneself way to seriously" but I am pretty sure it doesn't matter

We skipped yoga to race Dragon Boats this weekend. I think I'll breathe now.

Exactly. Or maybe we can agree not to disagree ... in the breathing and relaxing thread.

When I was racing Buccaneers, I sometimes had to remind myself to breathe.

Okay this is my last post about the subject. I will not proceed further to antagonize but it should be observed that;

Things you cannot discuss on these forums because they are considered too controversial; a. climate change, b. gay rights, c. philosophy. I have seen threads on all 3 locked or zapped.

Things you can discuss on forums with impunity and support, a. praise and worship music, b. gun collecting, c. creationism. Just an observation.

I put up the philosophy thread because I teach this subject at University, that of philosophy and wanted to get a feel for how our community (which mostly consists of seniors) sees human nature. I felt the discussion was kind, fair, balanced and decent.

Anyhow that's it. Back to discussing NGD. Not a bad topic, but sometimes one craves something a bit more substantial than sports events or thoughts on whether Bob Dylan was media savvy.

Your observations may be correct if perhaps from a bit skewed perspective.

Objectively the subjects you posit as being able to discuss have also often been shut down. Arguably after perhaps more posts, but shut down none the less . Which makes then simply a matter of degree of disagreement and or when.

While understandably perhaps your perceived difference between the philosophy of Aristotle and Siddhatha Gautama might seem important and would make a good discussion . There is no getting around the fact that Buddhism is classified as a religion, nontheistic but a religion and one would think a university prof would understand that.

And I would think a thread about the philosophy of Luke or Mathew or Paul would get quickly shut down also

Where as a discussion of say Tibetan Buddhist monk chanting music might last longer.

But the really important thing (from a wisdom if not philosophical standpoint) is ..... It in fact, really doesn't matter . It's just a forum and if the rules is the rules OH WELL

Perspective:

EDIT: I'm told this photo is a fake...but it reflects a bit of our reality, nonetheless.

I mean, really, what is fake and what is real?

Breathe, indeed.

Okay, this one is real...!
