Default Voyage-Air VAD-04 Upgrade Tuners

Does anyone know what good quality tuners are an exact fit?

Can you post a picture of the back of the headstock?
I tried google and saw 2 different tuners being used.

Just curious - are you having trouble with the originals?

Wondering because I haven’t had trouble out of mine, and I’ve had the guitar going on five years now.

I replaced the tuners on my VAOM-04 with a set of Gotoh SGS510Z.

They are chrome finish with an L5 button that looks similar to the original.
These are 18:1 gear ratio.
They fit perfectly, but if I remember correctly I used the original wood screws
because the ones that came with the new tuners were just a bit longer.
I could have drilled the holes deeper, but I thought why bother.

Someone on the forum suggested it (WHM, maybe?). They weren't expensive.
I changed them because the original tuners' gear ratio seemed too quick (15:1?),
making it harder to tune accurately.
The new machines are noticeably smoother, too. (A plus!)

The Gotoh website has dimensional drawings so you can check that
they will fit before you buy.

I forget where I bought them. All Parts? Stew Mac? Sorry...

Good luck & happy tuning. _Roger

Roger,
Thanks for the response. I was looking for a travel guitar, Voyage-Air just got them in stock and I just got the guitar. The OEM tuners work but definitely need to be upgraded. I completed a full setup, upgraded the bridge saddle and bridge pins to bone and added an K&K UltraPure Mini. I priced the Gotoh SGS510Z tuners that you recommended and they were about $120. A little more than I want to invest into this guitar.

Hello:

I have an OM model and want to upgrade the bridge pins. May I ask where you got yours and what info you needed to get the correct size?

Thanks
Ron

One of the original tuners on my vaom-04 was sticky/slippy so I just installed the same ones as Roger for $68 plus shipping from amplified parts. Major improvement imho. Very smooth and precise tuner.

Ron,
Check with Bob Colosi for bridge pins for the om. I’ve purchased bone saddles from him at the recommendation of others on this forum

I ordered them on eBay from a Canadian seller. They are a standard size. I would recommend replacing the bridge saddle (72mmX3mmx9mm). Both are plastic and the bone replacements provide a real upgrade. Bob Colosi is awesome, you can score pins and bridge saddles from him also.

Hess,
Thanks for the info. I found "mid size" tuners listed there. Are these the correct ones?
