Default Asturias Custom or Standard anyone?

Wondering if anyone has hands on experience with either of these models. Thinking about buying myself a retirement gift.

I had a Custom-S in the early 90s. It was very well made, had a good setup as delivered, and medium-tension strings worked well on it. It had a thin PU finish throughout.

Thanks - tonally did it tend toward the bright end of the spectrum?

Yes, the one I chose did, a little bit. I was able to choose from a few of the same model,
and if I were to do it again, I'd go with another one I tried (same model) that had a fuller bass. It's so tough to talk usefully about sound..

I agree - I just like good string separation and it typically goes hand in hand with a little brighter guitar. I gleaned from some of the videos I saw that it tended that way.
Thanks!

The ones I tried (all Custom-S, as I recall) all had good clarity and string separation, to my ears. Good luck with the search!

If you're looking for an outstanding guitar with pristine clarity in the trebles without sounding harsh I can highly recommend the Antonio Picado Model 62. Depending on where you shop, it should come out cheaper than a brand new Asturias Custom-S. The C-1 model is a step up and would also be worthy of your consideration, but this costs a little more.

If you're open to other suggestions let me know your budget and I'll be happy to make more recommendations based on experience (we've had LOTS of mid/high end concert guitars through the shop over the years!)
