Default VOX AC4TV Amp review....

I just received my newest amp, a Vox AC4TV...Tube amp with at selection of 4 watts, 1 watt or 1/4 watt. I bought it for practicing at night so as not to disturb the neighbors, so far it seems to be a quiet amp on the 1/4 watt setting. Using the 4 watt setting, I may be able to use this amp at my senior center gigs. It's fairly lightweight and easy to carry around. The 10" speaker puts out a really nice tone. For a professional grade practice amp, this one fits the bill nicely.

For more info, goto...

I bought this one used from Reverb.com.

Don’t tell me you swooped that one at $150? I wanted that so bad.

I appreciate your review, I have that on my list of items to buy in the near future and am happy to hear you can play it quiet on the 1/4 watt setting and still sound good.

I have a 2 year old, and most of my practicing is when he is asleep...so even though I’m in the basement and he is on the second floor volume is a huge concern.

Keep rocking and enjoy that Vox!

No, I paid $190 plus 30 dollars shipping for a total of $220, a substantial savings from a new one. It's in very nice shape and came with an amp cover. Maybe it's a bit much for a practice amp, but it is a tube circuit with a 10" Celestion speaker, plus I can use it for small gigs. So I think I got a fair price. It sounds nice in my bedroom with the Gretsch hollow body guitar.

I got a great deal on a Vox AC4tv a couple of years ago. They are great little amps, sound amazing and can go surprisingly loud for their 4 Watts. The speaker out is a great feature and if you haven’t yet wait until you connect it to a larger cabinet!

I had one of those. I wanted an AC15, which I got, and it is a really great amp, too.

I regret getting rid of it. Killer little amp.

a friend of mine bought one with the 10". he decided to upgrade to the 12" and he's glad he did. much bigger sound out of a smallish amp. i like 10" and have a couple amps that sound sweet with them.

play music!

I was going for a 10" speaker...I've got plenty of 12" speakers already. I wanted a smaller amp not bigger. This is easy to lug around to small gigs and stuff....

Congrats! I almost bought one on CL a little while ago. Ended up getting the AC15 and sometimes thinking it’s too much amp for me. I might pick up an AC4 in the future.

I've got the Vox AD30VT "valvetronix" modeling amp. It's got a DIAL that gives you a selection of anywhere from 1 to 30 watts. Also has 11 amp models and 11 effects, with a dial for the strength of the effect. Cost $100 used. I can't believe a 1/4 watt can be very useful. I mean, there are headphones for inspired 3 a.m. playing....

Actually the 1/4 watts is useful as I don't like wearing headphones but can get a nice crunchy sound at a low volume. Low enough to fill the room without disturbing the neighbors...it's just right. The 1 watt setting is just a bit too much, and the 4 watt would be good for a small gig, plenty of volume there.

The 1/4 watt is my goto setting for practicing.
