As a kid Steve and Eydie were on all the tv shows and I always liked them, even though they seemed old school entertainers.

I saw S&E twice, first time in LV in the summer of 1974, then again in the late '70s at the long-gone Front Row Theater in Highland Heights (I saw Renaissance there in the summer of '79 there, too ).

They were always likable and relatable. Not only very talented, they had to have been rock solid professionals to have lasted in the public eye the many decades that they did.

It’s hard to imagine a world that no longer has Steve and Eydie in it, but all things must pass.

Eydie was a childhood crush in the late 60’s along with Barbara Eden, Marlo Thomas and Maryann.

I do miss the fun days of variety entertainment…

Oh my gosh, I had no idea Steve Lawrence had passed away. Well, he had a good run. May he rest in peace...

I'm glad you said Maryann.

Steve and Eydie were both excellent singers, very talented. But I never went for that variety-show schmaltz that they became famous for. In those days singers had to be technically good, they had to deliver. And both of them could, despite the material they had to do on TV.
