1938 Martin 0-18 [SOLD]
Absolutely robust and articulate example; one of just 227 produced in 1938. T.J. Thompson did a complete refret in late 2021, describing the sound/tone as “ridiculously good”. A transitional year for Martin, this has the "wide neck" with 1 3/4" nut and playability is nothing short of phenomenal.
One professionally repaired back crack stabilized with diamond cleats and a corresponding small buffed area on the back. Aside from that, all-original finish throughout. Neck reset included a thin ebony shim and period correct bridge replacement prior to my ownership. There is a crack along the fretboard extension on the bass-side that does not extend into the purfling/sound hole (“kinda normal for these early guitars” and inconsequential according to T.J.). Some very light and rather indistinguishable impact cracks at the bottom (no light shines through and did not draw the concern to TJ during our communications). One 1” minimal/hairline top crack (photographed). Comes with 6-latch modern Guardian case. PM or direct email: [email protected] Thanks! Troy Last edited by sonic romp; 03-06-2024 at 05:53 PM. |

I haven’t seen a comparable wide-neck, original finish+hardware+bridge plate late 30’s 0-18 for several years. Throw in TJ’s elite expertise — this is the one!
