Default McIlroy AJ15c - Sold

You're looking at a McIlroy AJ15C made in Ireland by Dermot McIlroy in 2003. This is a gorgeous handmade instrument, made to the highest standards with the finest materials. The top is master grade cedar, back and sides are Brazilian mahogany, fretboard is glassy black ebony, bridge is rosewood, etc. etc.! The guitar is impeccably built, with multi-wood bindings and perfect joints; it is very tight and LIGHT for a guitar of its size. The sound that comes from this jumbo-size box is as balanced as it is big; it has an open, airy, sparkling clarity, coupled with great power and a strong fundamental tone. This tone is especially prized by Irish players, but is equally desirable for many other genres.

The guitar has excellent action and playability and is as structurally sound as the day it was made. That being said, it's definitely been a player! Cosmetically, there are a few light marks on the cedar top and two spots of chipped lacquer near the lower lip that have been drop filled. There is a similar drop-filled chip next to the endpin jack. There is an old moisture stain inside the box, a couple inches below the label, and some strum wear on the lip of the soundhole. Fret wear is minimal, neck is straight. There is a lovely rounded cutaway and a natural sounding active pickup (not sure of brand). Tuners are gold-plated Gotohs. The OHSC is an English-made Hiscox LiteFlite in very good working order. The lid to its case compartment had come loose, but has been re-glued.

Asking $Sold pending approval

The guitar's specs are as follows (from McIlroy Guitar website):

Lower Bout 16 3/8” (418mm)

Upper Bout: 12” (305mm)

Body Depth at tail block: 4 23/32” (120mm)
Body Depth at neck block: 3 15/16” (100mm)
Overall length: 20 1/16” (510mm)
Scale Length: 25 1/2” (648mm)

Nut Width
1 3/4” (45mm) as standard but any size from 1 3/32” (28mm) to 2 3/16” (56mm) is available.

String spacing at bridge.
55mm as standard and 53 and 57mm are available at no extra charge. Other sizes are available.

Soundhole 4 7/16” (110mm)

Finish Nitro Cellulose Lacquer (Satin)
Neck thickness at nut 1 3/16” (21mm)

Bindings and inlays are selected for the individual instrument and may vary between models. All guitars have 2.5mm Paua Abalone Rosettes. All fingerboards are solid Ebony and bound with 1.5mm binding and 0.6mm purfling. Highly figured woods are not used for bindings on cutaway models. Nut and saddle material is Bone. Machine heads are Gotoh as standard or Schaller if Gotoh’s are not available. All guitars come with Hiscox flight case.

Thanks for the message.

It is 1 3/4" (45 mm) at the nut. String height over 12th fret is 2.25mm at Low E and 1.75mm at High E. I will double check spacing and let you know.

Thanks Kirkham13,

This thing is a beauty, and it had the most wide-open, woody sound. Bump it up...
