1998 Bourgeois Martin Simpson Signature Model EIR/Sitka - $OLD Shipped + PPd
This is by far the most versatile guitar Ive played, with mind-blowing defined bass, crisp trebles, and a stunning balance in both finger-picking and flatpicking. This was the only Bourgeois model featured in the book 1001 Guitars to Dream About Playing Before You Die. It was made in 1998, the Serial Number is 001168
Pictures can be viewed here: https://picasaweb.google.com/1049559...eat=directlink Ill say from the outset this is definitely a players guitar, which is why Im selling it for this price. The biggest issue is that there is a thin crack down the middle of the bout as you can see in the pictures. This was repaired 7 years ago by the respected shop The Twelfth Fret here in Canada. This has led to some bulging in the belly of the guitar under the bridge. I took this in to a local luthier this past week and had him do some minor touch-ups on the crack and glue down a corner of the bridge that had a small gap in it. The other noticeable issue is the wear on the top from the lack of a pickguard, although this could be easily covered with installing a pickguard. All this said, the luthier had no major concerns with the guitar or its playability. If it were not for this crack and the wear on top, this guitar would be in very good cosmetic and physical condition. This guitar has no issues with playability or tone. The neck is straight, action is perfect with lots of room left in the saddle, the back and sides are made of a rosewood with a beautiful grain. This guitar would be amazing for the performing musician who wants a quality guitar they can tour with. It comes with two pickups installed an Lr Baggs M1 pickup over the soundhole, and a K&K pure mini in the guitar. These have been wired so that the guitar can be played stereo through a PA system. Also comes with a K&K Pure belt loop preamp. Thats $500 in pickups and preamps alone! Comes with a hardshell case that has seen some wear. The previous owner was a touring musician so the case got a lot of use but all the latches work and its still solid. Selling for $1800 shipped + I'll cover paypal fees. Open to trades for a guitar worth $1800 or more. I'm relatively new to the forum but have sold many guitars on craigslist and ebay and could provide references. I do my best to describe everything as accurately as possible. The used original model of this guitar just sold at Dream Guitars for $3395. You can find a video here: http://www.dreamguitars.com/detail/5...of_25_3242016/ And another video of an identical model to the one being sold here: http://www.dreamguitars.com/sold-gui...nature_000748/ I cant beat their description so here it is: The bass is warm and well-defined, and the trebles are nothing short of ecstatic--and she eats up lowered tunings as though they were snacks. DADGAD, Drop D, CFA#D#GC--you name it, this guitar can handle it. With so many options at your hands, it'd be great to make the decision of what to play easier by being better-suited for fingerstyle or flatpicks, but the fact of the matter is this guitar sounds equally stellar with both approaches, so the sky's the limit for how you play, and in what tuning. Fantastic guitars. Had one for about 5 years. Sold it to a friend last year to finance the Lowden I had to have. Best of both worlds as I have a wonderful Lowden and still get to play the the Simpson. I flatpicked mine, but my friend plays Fingerstyle after Mississippi John Hurt on it. Had a schertler blue stick in it that worked out really well.
Jeff

Thanks for the comments Jeff! Always interesting to hear of someone who owned one, I've never had the chance to try a Lowden but they look amazing.
